A federal jury in Jackson, Mississippi, has found William “Bill” Byrd McHenry, Jr., of Canton guilty of perjury for making false statements before a court.

Evidence presented at trial showed that McHenry gave false testimony on November 18, 2021, during a judgment debtor examination. This examination was conducted by the Receiver for Arthur Lamar Adams and Madison Timber Properties, LLC. Its purpose was to identify assets McHenry could use to pay part of a $3,473,320 judgment against him. The funds from this judgment were intended to help repay investors affected by the Madison Timber Properties Ponzi scheme. The fraudulent scheme had involved over one hundred million dollars and impacted hundreds of victims across multiple states over several years.

During the proceedings, McHenry was questioned about certain assets and whether he had sold any while undergoing personal bankruptcy after the large judgment had been entered against him. He denied selling any such assets; however, evidence demonstrated this denial was false.

McHenry’s sentencing is set for May 28, 2026. A federal district court judge will determine his sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory considerations.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney J.E. Baxter Kruger for the Southern District of Mississippi and FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert A. Eikhoff.

The FBI led the investigation into this case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Samuel Goff and Matt Allen are prosecuting.
