The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi has announced that a Mexican national, Antonio Quintana-Rodriguez, pled guilty to illegally reentering the United States after deportation and a prior statutory rape conviction. This announcement was made through a press release.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Quintana-Rodriguez, 29, was arrested following an incident of statutory rape in Oxford, Mississippi. This arrest led law enforcement to discover his unlawful presence in the country. He had been previously deported by immigration authorities in 2013 but reentered without authorization. His latest arrest for a sex offense against a minor prompted the federal case for illegal reentry.

The same press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office indicates that Quintana-Rodriguez pled guilty in May 2025 to statutory rape in the Circuit Court of Lafayette County. Subsequently, he pled guilty in federal court on June 26, 2025, to illegal reentry after removal. The sentencing for this federal offense is yet to be scheduled.

United States Attorney Clay Joyner commended the Oxford Police Department for their effective investigation into the sex offense against a child and their collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security. Third Circuit District Attorney Ben Creekmore’s Office was also praised for securing a guilty plea on the statutory rape charge. Assistant U.S. Attorney John Herzog Jr. is leading the prosecution on the illegal reentry case.

According to information available on its official website, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi represents the federal government in both criminal and civil cases throughout the region. It prosecutes federal crimes, defends the United States in court, and collaborates closely with law enforcement agencies at all levels.
