The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is reminding drivers about its safety measures as the college football season reaches its midpoint. MDOT encourages fans to use its resources for safe travel to and from games.

To avoid traffic congestion, drivers can download the free MDOT Traffic App, which provides real-time road conditions and traffic alerts. This information is also available at MDOTtraffic.com.

Brad White, MDOT Executive Director, emphasized the importance of safety during this busy season: “Mississippians love football season, and we want to make sure that everyone makes it to and from the game safely.” He advised drivers to put their phones down while driving, slow down in work zones, and use a designated driver if necessary.

MDOT offers several tips for safe driving: never drink and drive, always have a designated driver, pay attention to your surroundings, adhere to speed limits, exercise caution in work zones, wear seat belts correctly, and secure loads to prevent losing items like tailgating gear.
