The Mississippi Egg Marketing Board presented 12 decorated eggs created by The Mustard Seed ‘Seedsters’ to First Lady Elee Reeves last week, according to a recent announcement. The event involved collaboration with The Mustard Seed, a Christian community for adults with developmental disabilities, and took place at the Governor’s Mansion.

Twelve members of The Mustard Seed community each decorated an egg representing Mississippi, following this year’s theme of “America 250.” The collection included designs such as the Statue of Liberty by Gabrielle Chambers, the 1776 American Flag by Robin Smith, the Bald Eagle by Caroline Wilkerson, and several other national symbols crafted by different artists. After presenting their eggs to the First Lady, the artists were invited to enjoy cookies and lemonade at the mansion.

“I was honored to have several phenomenal Seedsters present their Easter eggs at the Governor’s Mansion. This tradition with the Mustard Seed, Mississippi Egg Marketing Board, and Mississippi Department of Agriculture is one of my favorites each year! This year’s ‘America 250’ celebration theme was perfectly captured, and displayed the incredible talent and creativity of the Seedsters!” According to First Lady Elee Reeves.

“It’s truly an honor to be a part of this unique event each year. These talented Seedsters work hard to bring their own interpretation to these eggs, and the result is always amazing. And on behalf of the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board, I want to thank First Lady Elee Reeves and her entire staff for hosting us at this annual event. We hope to continue this long-standing tradition for years to come,” according to Ryn Laster.

The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce operates in the agriculture sector and extends its operations throughout Mississippi. It focuses on promoting agricultural products, supporting farmers, ensuring food safety, offering marketing support for farmers and inspections for food safety as detailed on the official website.

More information about this event can be found in the organization’s press release.
