Commissioner Andy Gipson of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC) has advised farmers in Mississippi affected by Hansen-Mueller Co.’s bankruptcy to examine a court notice and respond by December 10, 2025. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska approved procedures on December 3, 2025, for selling all grain inventory and potentially assigning contracts between Hansen-Mueller Co. and farmers as part of the company’s asset sale.
The list of impacted farmers’ contracts is included in the notice from the company, which can be accessed at https://agnet.mdac.ms.gov/agManage/uploads/3216.pdf. The court set a deadline for objections to cure amounts listed for each forward contract on the notice, contract assignability, or assurance of future performance by December 10, 2025.
Farmers are encouraged to review their situations and consult legal advice to decide their actions or check if they were wrongly excluded from the list of affected contracts. MDAC will keep track of developments in the Hansen-Mueller bankruptcy case and provide updates when new information arises.
