Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson has announced that the 166th Mississippi State Fair will be part of the Great American State Fair initiative. This event, scheduled for October 2-13, 2025, will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Governor Tate Reeves, Major General Bobby Ginn, Nancy Carpenter from the America250 Mississippi Commission, Kathy Henry from the Daughters of the American Revolution, and other officials joined Commissioner Gipson in making this announcement.

Governor Reeves said, “Mississippians are the most patriotic people in our entire nation. Our love of country is second to none, and I know that fact will be on full display throughout America250 Mississippi and the Great American State Fair.” The initiative was launched by President Donald J. Trump as part of America250 and aims to culminate with a nationwide festival in Washington D.C. in 2026.

Commissioner Gipson emphasized the fair’s patriotic theme: “This year, we’re wrapping the fair in red, white and blue as we work to make the Mississippi State Fair the epicenter of all patriotic celebrations.” The event will feature a variety of activities including a parade and performances by artist Lee Greenwood.

The Mississippi State Fairgrounds is collaborating with several organizations such as Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and the United States Department of Agriculture; Governor’s Office; First Lady Elee Reeves; Nancy Carpenter and America250 Mississippi Commission; Kathy Henry and Daughters of the American Revolution; Mississippi Department of Archives and History; Major General Bobby Ginn and Mississippi National Guard; Chief Cyrus Ben and Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; Friends of Mississippi Veterans; state and local law enforcement organizations.

Commissioner Gipson highlighted an opportunity for fairgoers to support military veterans through donations to Friends of Mississippi Veterans. He expressed gratitude for being able to organize this event: “I am so grateful that God allowed me to be born and raised in Mississippi and the greatest nation on earth – the United States of America.”
