Mississippi State track and field concluded the Southeastern Conference Championships on May 16, closing out the competition with several point-scoring performances in both track and field events.

The event, hosted by Auburn, saw Mississippi State athletes achieving personal bests and setting new records. The jumps squad contributed points in all three events they entered. Manie Mevo finished sixth in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 13.10 meters. Khalil Antoine tied for fifth overall in the high jump after clearing a personal best of 2.17 meters. Alla Parnov tied for seventh place in the pole vault, reaching 4.06 meters to extend her No. 4 mark on Mississippi State’s all-time list.

In throwing events, Kevin Grubbs made his debut at the SEC outdoor championships by recording a personal best throw of 59.79 meters in discus, earning him fifth place and moving him to No. 2 on Mississippi State’s all-time list for that event.

On the track, Nicholas Fakorede made his first appearance in an SEC final for the men’s 100-meter dash, finishing fourth with a time of 10.12 seconds—just missing out on a podium spot. Ife Adisa set her third consecutive personal best during the women’s 800-meter final, crossing the line at 2:01.58 to finish seventh overall while also setting a new program freshman record and Nigerian national record.

Harry Ross-Hughes narrowly missed a podium finish in the men’s 800 meters by placing fourth at 1:45.80; Sam Navarro followed closely behind with seventh place at 1:46.45.

Both relay teams closed out Mississippi State’s participation at Auburn; Adisa joined Adetutu Aladeloye, Camryn Merryman and De’Kayla Simpson for the women’s relay while Keayari Lee, Malachi Burton Ross-Hughes and Sherman Hawkins helped secure seventh place for the men’s team with their season-best time of 3:04.26.

The men’s team ended up eleventh overall with a total of 39.5 points while two podium finishes helped earn Mississippi State women’s team a weekend total of 21.75 points.
