New State Route 477 connects Pearl and Flowood with improved travel options

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new State Route 477/West Rankin Parkway. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. It will take place on the new bridge located 0.4 miles south of the Flowood Drive/SR 468 intersection.

This project aims to improve transportation by connecting Pearl and Flowood, enhancing safety and efficiency for travelers and cargo in Greater Rankin County. The $59.5 million project was awarded to Eutaw Construction Company, Inc.

Attendees will include Mississippi Transportation Commission Chairman Willie Simmons, Senator Dean Kirby, Representative Gene Newman, Pearl Mayor Jake Windham, Flowood Mayor Kathy Smith, Former Flowood Mayor Gary Rhoads, MDOT Executive Director Brad White, and other officials.
