Ole Miss Baseball, ranked No. 25, will travel to Knoxville this weekend for a three-game series against Tennessee, beginning Friday, Apr. 16. The Rebels enter the matchup with a six-game winning streak and an overall record of 27-11 (8-7 SEC), while Tennessee stands at 25-12 (7-8 SEC).
The upcoming series is significant as both teams are seeking to improve their positions in the Southeastern Conference standings at the season’s midpoint. Ole Miss recently defeated No. 22 Southern Miss and swept LSU in their last conference series, marking strong momentum heading into Knoxville.
Several Ole Miss players have delivered standout performances recently. Tristan Bissetta went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run against Southern Miss. Walker Hooks has recorded three wins and two saves over his last seven appearances with a low ERA of 1.06, while Taylor Rabe achieved his first career quality start by taking a no-hit bid into the seventh inning versus LSU.
Hayden Federico has been effective at the plate over his last nine games, batting .571 with multiple walks and runs scored. Judd Utermark and Bissetta have combined for half of Ole Miss’ home runs this season.
Tennessee is led by first-year head coach Josh Elander and is coming off its first SEC sweep of the year after defeating Mississippi State in three straight games. The Volunteers are recognized for their defensive strength, leading the conference in fielding percentage (.984) and ranking among national leaders in strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Projected pitching matchups feature Hunter Elliott facing Landon Mack on Friday, Cade Townsend against Tegan Kuhns on Saturday, and Taylor Rabe opposing Evan Blanco on Sunday. All games will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
The outcome of this series could influence postseason opportunities for both programs as they seek to build on recent successes.
