“This past summer, I had the opportunity to intern with the U.S. Helsinki Commission, which is a bipartisan congressional commission that promotes international human rights. This internship allowed me to get a broad view of policy and a deeper understanding of how to advocate for fundamental rights of citizens in different countries. My college career up to that point had been marked by uncertainty, which led me to seek educational opportunities in other disciplines, such as political science. Having this level of interdisciplinary study has given me clarity and taught me to view problems from different perspectives. My goal now is to pursue a career in health policy, and I hope to apply my biochemistry major and political science minor to advocate for better access to health care for American citizens.”
