The FDA has approved a new COVID-19 booster that is more effective against the two variants currently causing most COVID-19 infections, omicron BA.4 and BA.5, as well as the original strain of COVID-19. These boosters are available for those 12 and older whose last booster or vaccination was more than two months ago. This booster is strongly recommended by MSDH, especially for those who are 60 or older, or who have medical conditions that put them at greater risk from COVID-19 illness.
