Lady Warriors Take Down ICC on the Road
It was a 25-point performance from ECCC's Lexus Keyes that was the difference maker on Thursday night as the East Central Community College Lady Warriors defeated the Itawamba Lady Indians, 64-60.
The win was the second straight for ECCC and moved the Lady Warriors to 5-8, 2-2 on the year.
Action was slow in the early going of the game as the Lady Warriors led by just one, 13-12, after the first 10 minutes.
The Lady Warriors sprung to life in the second quarter with a pair of three-pointers from Keyes and another from Kennedee Shelton.
The deep ball, paired with three baskets from Kaedre Denson, allowed the Lady Warriors to stretch the lead to 37-24 going into the half.
ICC made a push late in the contest and outpaced the Lady Warriors in both the third and fourth quarters in the scoring columns, but six key free throws from Kamyia Russell sealed the win for ECCC.
Keyes led the team with 25 points, while Denson netted 14. Russell came off the bench to chip in eight.
