U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith have expressed their support for Mississippi Supreme Court Justices Robert Chamberlin and James Maxwell, who are under consideration for positions on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. The Senate Judiciary Committee reviewed their nominations on Wednesday.
In a joint statement, the senators said, “We wholeheartedly support Justices Maxwell and Chamberlin’s nominations to the U.S. District Court. President Trump chose these men for their qualifications and experience, which will serve them well on the federal bench. Jimmy and Bobby have dedicated their lives to upholding the Constitution, defending the rule of law, and serving their Mississippi communities with distinction. They are ready to assume these federal roles, and we look forward to their speedy confirmation both in committee and by the Senate.”
Senators Wicker and Hyde-Smith introduced both nominees at their nomination hearing. President Trump nominated Chamberlin and Maxwell for these positions on August 12.
