Mississippi State Department of Health - A New West Nile Virus (WNV) Case in Mississippi Was Reported Less Than Two Weeks Ago

Just because it’s feeling less like summer outside doesn’t mean mosquitoes are on winter vacation!

A new West Nile virus (WNV) case in Mississippi was reported less than two weeks ago.

While cases remain low this year, we have had one death from WNV.

You should continue to take precautions against WNV and other mosquito-borne illnesses year-round.

Use a recommended mosquito repellant, cover your arms and legs with long sleeves and pants, and avoid mosquito-prone areas near dawn and dusk,

when mosquitoes are most active. Get full West Nile information at HealthyMS.com/westnile
