(Jackson, Mississippi) Attorney General Lynn Fitch on June 24 will be a keynote speaker at the National Celebrate Life Day rally to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Mississippi's Dobbs decision in Washington, D.C. The event’s live stream is available here. The rally is scheduled to begin 9:30 a.m. Central/10:30 a.m. Eastern.

The General's remarks as prepared for delivery are below:

Good morning!

One year ago today, what would have been just an hour or so ago, we got the blessed news: We had overturned Roe v Wade with the Mississippi Dobbs case.

When my Solicitor General and I stood before the Justices and made our case that the Constitution demands that abortion policymaking be returned to the  people – to you, that the American people can be trusted to make hard decisions about complex and controversial matters, and that we can indeed both promote life and empower women, we all hoped and prayed that the Justices would be swayed by the undeniable power of our arguments. And we never lost faith that this day would come – a day when the reign of Roe v Wade would be over.

And now that it is here, it is our time to act because until we can give women, especially the most vulnerable of women, what they need so they and their children can thrive, until we can make the changes in our laws that reflect our compassion for all life, and until we can change hearts and minds in our fellow Americans, our dream of a society that fully embraces the inherent dignity of all human life will not be the reality.

So it is our charge today, in this new Dobbs era, to channel that same determination, hope, and prayer that fueled you for 50 years to fight for the overturn of Roe v Wade.

  • Use it to take action in ways that give hope and love to women and children;
  • Use this opportunity that Dobbs has given us to support women when they are pregnant and when they are nurturing a young family;
  • Use it to upskill, educate, and provide resources for women;
  • Use it to make quality childcare more affordable and accessible;
  • Use it to promote workplace flexibility so women can be the mothersthey want to be and pursue their professional dreams;
  • Use it to improve child support enforcement to make fathers equallyresponsible for their children;
  • Use it to encourage fathers to be active and involved in building healthyfamilies; and,
  • Use it to fix the broken pathway of adoption and foster care systems that keep children from finding their forever home.
This was the job we asked for in the Mississippi Dobbs case. And this is the job the Supreme Court gave us one year ago today when they said Roe v Wade was behind us.

This is our call to action.

I was proud to stand with you in the fight to get us to this great day, and I am proud to stand with you in this new Dobbs era. Together we will lead the wayto a society that truly empowers women and promotes life, and to an America where the dignity inherent in all life is respected and cherished by all.

Thank you, and God bless you.
