WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., On June 30 issued the following statement upon learning of the release of the Supreme Court decision in Biden v. Nebraska:

“This decision affirms what we already knew: the president’s plan to wipe away student debt had no legal footing,” Wicker said. “This is a victory for the rule of law and for the millions of American taxpayers who would be saddled with this massive $400 billion wealth transfer.”

Wicker has regularly spoken against President Biden’s loan scheme and joined his Republican colleagues in an amicus brief supporting the respondents of both relevant cases, Biden v. Nebraska and Department of Education v. Brown, in February.

Wicker and 46 Senate Republicans introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn President Biden’s plan in March. The House version of the CRA passed the Senate in May, but it was vetoed by the president.
