The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced a temporary closure and detour on I-20/59 in Meridian. The closure will take place from 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, until 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. This is to allow crews to repair the 49th Ave. bridge over I-20/59 eastbound.
Traffic will be rerouted around the construction zone using the entrance and exit ramps at 49th Ave. Additionally, the southbound side of 49th Ave. will be closed while northbound traffic will be redirected to the I-20/59 eastbound on-ramp.
Motorists are advised to follow all advance warning signs and message boards, exercise caution, and expect delays during this period. Updates can be found at MDOTtraffic.com, through the MDOT Traffic mobile app, or by following @MississippiDOT on Facebook and X.
