NFIB State Director Leah Long recently discussed the 2025 legislative session on SuperTalk Mississippi. During her conversation with host Gerard Gibert, Long emphasized the organization's focus on reducing the personal income tax rate.
Long explained that many small businesses operate as pass-through entities. This structure means that business revenue is taxed at the individual level rather than at a corporate rate. "We have a big interest in lowering the personal income tax rate," she stated.
She expressed optimism about potential changes to the tax rate, saying, "Right now we’re watching and hopeful that they continue to lower that number, and it would be great to phase it out one day."
