The NFIB Mississippi PAC has announced its endorsement of 30 incumbents seeking re-election to the state legislature. This decision is based on the candidates' records and their support for issues impacting small businesses in Mississippi. The political action committee is composed solely of NFIB members within the state.
The endorsements include nine candidates for the state Senate and 21 candidates for the House of Representatives. According to NFIB State Director Dawn McVea, "Our members support the candidates who support small businesses, and these 30 candidates have proven to our members they understand the challenges facing Main Street Mississippi." She added that measures such as cutting individual income tax rates and passing smart tax reform are examples of how these candidates have worked to foster an environment conducive to small business growth and job creation.
The backing from the NFIB Mississippi PAC is significant for these campaigns. Small business owners and their employees tend to vote in large numbers and actively encourage others to participate in elections. The PAC's support hinges on each candidate's stance and track record concerning small business matters.
The endorsed Senate candidates are David Parker (District 2), Rita Parks (District 4), Neil S. Whaley (District 10), Kevin Blackwell (District 19), Angela Burks Hill (District 40), Mike Seymour (District 47), Mike Thompson (District 48), Joel Carter (District 49), and Jeremy England (District 51).
