NFIB State Director Dawn McVea issued a statement in response to Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann's proposal to suspend the state fuel tax for six months.
"Inflation is the major concern for small businesses, and rising fuel prices are making things even worse," McVea stated. She noted that the statewide average price of fuel has reached $4 a gallon, an increase from $3.75 a week ago and $3.15 a month ago. According to McVea, this rise significantly impacts small businesses as it affects the cost of various goods.
McVea expressed support for suspending the fuel tax, saying it would help alleviate financial pressure on both small businesses and their customers. She also mentioned that eliminating the state income tax could further ease these burdens.
